Today’s pick: “Miryang Gukbap” — what I consider the best Dwaeji-gukbap in all of Busan!!!
It’s right by Exit 6 of Sasang Station on Busan Metro Line 2.
I won’t say this too loudly, but I genuinely believe this beats every shop on Seomyeon’s famous Dwaeji-gukbap Alley — yes, every one of them. (Whisper voice.)
Quick context: Miryang (밀양) is a city about 60 km north of Busan, also famous for Dwaeji-gukbap.
내장국밥 / Naejang-gukbap: with pork offal
순대국밥 / Sundae-gukbap: with sundae (blood sausage)
따로국밥 / Ttaro Gukbap: soup and rice served separately

Banchan looks like this.
Kimchi and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) are pre-set on the table.
Served in earthenware jars — extra appetizing!
And here comes the piping-hot Dwaeji-gukbap.
There’s somyeon (thin wheat noodles) on the side.
Drop the noodles into the gukbap while it’s still hot — that’s when they’re best!
I always go heavy on the garlic chives.
There’s a chunk of red dadaegi (spicy paste) sitting at the bottom of the bowl — stir it in well, then taste-check the saltiness.
If it needs more, add salted shrimp (saeu-jeot) or salt.
In Korea, it’s standard to customize the salt level of soup dishes to your taste.
Whoaaa!
Look at all that pork!
I didn’t notice this last time, but the pork chunks here are bigger and have more fat content than at other shops.

Sasang doesn’t get much guidebook coverage, so it’s an area most tourists skip. But there are tons of seriously great food spots hiding here!
And Miryang Gukbap is my personal #1 in all of Busan!!
