Today’s pick: Hyongane Kongnamul Haejangguk, located along Gwangalli Beach in Busan.

This spot was put on the international travel radar after a Japanese TV show — featuring a beauty-expert host known for her deep Korean-culture knowledge — raved about the place on air.

What the host shouted on camera — at full volume:

“Masisseoyo!” (맛있어요 / “Delicious!”)
The dish that pulled that reaction: the Kongnamul-gukbap (bean-sprout soup with rice) at Hyongane Kongnamul Haejangguk in Gwangalli, Busan.

First, the banchan.

And here’s the Kongnamul-gukbap.
I discovered this place thanks to that broadcast too — and it’s become a go-to spot I take friends to.
Genuinely excellent Kongnamul-gukbap.

But, but, but…
Kongnamul-gukbap isn’t the only thing they do well here!
Look at the shop’s full name again.
It says “Kongnamul Haejangguk” — meaning Kongnamul-gukbap AND Haejangguk are both signature dishes.
And yes, the Haejangguk (Korean hangover soup) is also seriously, seriously good.

This is the Bbyeodagi Haejangguk (7,000 KRW) — pork-bone hangover soup.

The meat is on the lighter side, but the deeply concentrated broth is the star — outstanding.
And once you taste the cabbage and meat that have soaked up that broth — game over.
First-time visitors should definitely start with the Kongnamul-gukbap. If you’ve had it before, or you’re in a group, add the Bbyeodagi Haejangguk too — the broth alone is worth it!
