Korea’s wildly popular egg-sandwich chain, EGG DROP (에그드랍). This time I visited the branch behind Lotte Department Store in Seomyeon. Busan has several locations — Seomyeon, Nampo, Haeundae — making it an easy mid-sightseeing pit stop.

EGG DROP launched in Seoul in 2017 and has grown into a popular chain with over 220 locations worldwide. Fluffy egg sandwiches stuffed with bold fillings — Korea’s go-to breakfast handheld.
It’s a one-handed eat with a portion sized perfectly for breakfast — that’s the magic.
Order at the counter or the kiosk. Kiosks are usually card-only, so a credit card or travel card makes it smoother.
The menu has the egg sandwiches solo, plus combo sets with a drink.
The classics are the egg sandwiches. The 4 most popular: Bacon Double Cheese, American Ham Cheese, Deri-Yaki BBQ, and Avoholic (avocado-loaded, a hit with female customers). In 2025 they also added bagel sandwiches, expanding the lineup.
I ordered the perennial favorite Bacon Double Cheese.
That toasted garlic bread is the secret weapon — seriously good.

About 5 minutes after ordering, the piping-hot egg sandwich arrives.
The pillowy, rounded shape is borderline cute — Instagram-bait, frankly.

From the side, you can see the trick: instead of two bread slices, they cut a slit into a thick piece of bread and “drop” the egg inside.
That slit holds the filling like a pocket, so every bite right to the end has the egg, the bacon, and the cheese.

I swapped the bread for garlic toast.
The garlic-butter aroma is unfair — instant appetite trigger.

There’s chili sauce on the table too — add a little to switch the flavor up.

Time to dig in. It’s stuffed and slightly messy, but one bite in — the hot, fluffy egg meets the bacon and the cheese and it’s better than you’d expect.
Add the nutty, garlicky toast and you’re cruising through it without ever getting bored.
They open early, making it a perfect first-morning breakfast.
Abalone porridge is still the OG Busan breakfast, but if you want something quick and portable, EGG DROP is right there with it.
With branches across Seomyeon, Nampo, and Haeundae, it’s easy to fit into any Busan itinerary.
