What Is TMA (THE FACT MUSIC AWARDS)?
TMA = THE FACT MUSIC AWARDS is a K-pop music awards show hosted by the Korean media outlet “The Fact” and operated by the fan-participation platform “Fan N Star (팬앤스타).” First held in 2019, 2026 marks its 9th edition. Winners are decided by a mix of objective streaming and album data (Circle Chart, formerly Gaon), an expert jury, and fan voting — which is why it’s known as an awards show where fans’ support directly shapes the results.
In recent years it has increasingly been held overseas: Osaka (Kyocera Dome) in 2024 and Macau in 2025. 2026 marks a “homecoming” to Korea — in Busan. As for the Daesang (Grand Prize), BTS won it for five consecutive editions from the very first (2020 had two editions due to COVID, and BTS swept straight through to 2022). Since then, SEVENTEEN (2023), aespa (2024), and Stray Kids (2025, Honor of the Year) have each taken the top prize as the act of their year.

Wave 3 changes the tempo. RIIZE, ILLIT, NMIXX and TREASURE bring popular groups from SM, HYBE, JYP and YG all at once. And Lim Young-woong is a soloist with enormous drawing power in Korea, having headlined stadium-scale solo shows like Seoul World Cup Stadium. With this many acts that have big fandoms in Japan and beyond, it’s safe to assume flights and hotels for the trip will start moving in earnest from this wave.
[Announced Jul 30] Full Lineup Revealed — 17 Acts, Final
On July 30, the official TMA X account published the full lineup, and the official site’s lineup page went up at the same time. It lists only the 17 acts from waves 1–3 — there was no 4th wave. In other words, this is the final confirmed lineup for TMA 2026.

In 2024 (Osaka) and 2025 (Macau) the pattern was first-announcement-in-July → weekly additions, with the biggest acts held for the final wave. For 2026 the waves came on July 14, 21 and 28 at weekly intervals, and then — just two days after Wave 3 — the full lineup was published and locked. The bill was set unusually early, about seven weeks before the show.
For anyone traveling in, this is the moment to move. No more acts being added means the “will my favorite be on the bill?” stage is over — now it’s just a question of the order you book flights and hotels. September 19 is the first day of Japan’s Silver Week long weekend (Sep 19–23), so rooms in particular are first-come, first-served.
[Announced Jul 1] Hosts: Jeon Hyun-moo & Seohyun
On July 1, the TMA organizing committee announced the 2026 host lineup. The main hosts are Jeon Hyun-moo (전현무) and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun (서현) — this is TMA’s 9th edition, and the pair have hosted 8 of them, making them the show’s familiar faces. The red-carpet host is Jaejae (재재), popular from the idol-interview show MMTG (문명특급).
This announcement confirmed the hosts only. Beyond the three lineup waves, the rest of the performers and the ticket details remain unannounced. We’ll add updates here as they come.
Will BTS Perform?
BTS’s appearance — the question many fans were watching — is now confirmed off the table: the full 17-act lineup published on July 30 does not include BTS. On top of that, BTS are booked for the “iHeartRadio Music Festival” in Las Vegas on September 18–19 (they perform on Sep 18), which clashes with TMA on September 19 in Busan. They have deep ties to TMA through their run of consecutive Daesang wins, but a full lineup without them plus the date clash means BTS will not perform at TMA 2026.
Tickets & How to Attend
There’s no official ticket info for 2026 yet. Past practice varies by region: in Korea-hosted years (2022 Seoul, 2023 Incheon), instead of paid general sales, audiences were sometimes gathered by application/lottery. Overseas editions (2024 Osaka, 2025 Macau), on the other hand, had paid tickets.
Because 2026 is in Busan (Korea), it’s not yet clear which approach will be used. Keep an eye on the official site (tfmusicawards.com) and the official social media (X) for announcements. And do be careful of scam emails and fake sites impersonating the event.
How to Join Fan Voting (Fan N Star)
Some TMA awards are decided by fan voting on the operator’s Fan N Star (팬앤스타) app/web. The headline categories include the Fan N Star Choice awards (separate for groups and soloists), the seasonal Best Music awards, and the Global Hot Star award (new in 2025), voted on by fandoms in each language — Japanese, English, Chinese and more.
As a rule, voting typically opens with a preliminary round in early summer, with the final round (about 3 weeks) closing roughly a week before the show (in 2025, the first Choice round ran Jul 21–Aug 4, for example).
